Budweiser Beer Stein

You are setting up your perfect home bar set up.  You'll have plenty of seating for your guests to relax on.  You'll have a nicely designed bar that offers plenty of storage.  Of course you will stock it well with all of your favorite beers and liquors.  Have you considered the type of glasses that will complete the look?  Many people overlook this detail in the design of their home bar but in fact you need to consider what glasses you need to have on hand for the various types of beer you will serve from the bar.  What's more, the glasses that you have will add character and style to the bar, or allow it to look like a half thought about addition to your home.

There is no rule that dictates what type of glasses you should have in your bar, but there are some bar glassware pieces that should be there, just because they work the best with the beer at your bar.  There are several benefits to the right beer.  First is taste.  With the right type of glass, the correct formation of the beer's head can happen (think beer stein in comparison to a flute glass, for example.)  Taste also is affected by the type of beer you select and the rim size of the glass.  On the other hand, some beers just look better in the right type of glass.  For others, the movement will allow for the aroma of the beer to waft up to your nose creating the perfect sensation.

To get started, stock your home bar with beer mugs.  You can select those with or without logos, depending on what works for you.  Choosing those mugs that feature logos do help offer more character to the bar, especially when you are serving your guests that brand of beer.  Another choice is that of the pint glass, commonly found in most bars.  These hold 16 ounces of beer but are designed to be larger at the top and then taper down towards the bottom.  The pilsner glass will hold about 14 ounces.  These offer sides that curve in or are straight but they are tapered with the larger portion at the top.  They usually have a footed bottom to them.

Finally, when considering the right glasses at your bar, do not forget about your liquor drinkers.  Rocks glasses are important as are highball glasses.  Wine glasses are necessary for those planning to serve wine.  Cocktail glasses are their own style, too.

There are plenty of other options.  Choose the right beer glasses or liquor glasses based on the types of drinks you are most likely to offer to guests.  While you do not have to spend a lot on these glasses, having the right assortment is important for anyone who is stocking their home bar.
